Help us help others with the healing power of rongoaa

$500 of $5,000 goal

We need your help to host a 3-day “Rongoaa Rawekaweka Retreat” for young koohine who have suffered from abuse.

Hamilton, Waikato

We believe holistic mental health and wellbeing support is key to reducing suicide rates amongst Māori youth in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Healing Innovation Hub have developed holistic health programmes that provide intervention at a crucial stage in a young person’s life.

Our mahi is based on the Te Whare Tapa Whaa holistic wellbeing model: Taha Whaanau (Family Health), Taha Wairua (Spiritual Health), Taha Tinana (Physical Health) and Taha Hinengaro (Emotional/Mental Health).

We have incorporated Te Whare Tapa Whaa into our new Rongoaa Rawekaweka retreat in the Waikato, for young koohine (girls), between the ages of 8-12.

These youth are mostly referred to us by Oranga Tamariki, and have unfortunately suffered from sexual or physical harm.

Within this safe space we will facilitate workshops through a qualified rongoaa practitioner that encompasses whakapapa, rongoaa gathering & creation, korowai making, kete making, poi making and kapa haka.

These Maaori traditions create a sense of connection and pride in oneself.

The retreat will also have an adventure component, exploring and drawing on the healing power of nature.

We have already received some financial support, but need your help to raise $5k more to make the Rongoaa Rawekaweka retreat a reality for these young girls.

Every little bit helps, and we are very thankful!

Ka nui te mihi ki a koutou katoa,
