My amazing cousin Mana has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma. I am going to run my first half marathon to raise money for his treatment.
Auckland
My cousin Mana has just been diagnosed with Stage 3, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He is only 25 years old.
While he does receive chemo though the public health system, a new drug called Brentuximab is now available which targets the cancer and significantly improves his chances of beating this disease. However, this is going to cost $235,000 for the treatments he requires.
So, I have decided to run the Hawkes Bay Half Marathon on the 19th May to help raise money to get him the treatment he needs.
Although the thought of running 21.1km makes me want to cry, it is nothing compared to what he is going though. Every dollar helps, so if you can, please donate.
You will be rewarded with regular updates on my training, lots of sweaty selfies and a share in the excitement when I finally cross the finish line. All money raised will be paid directly to Mana's family to pay for his treatment.
Mana is my cousin. All funds will passed onto his family to cover his treatment.
