Run for a House of Science Forest Health kit!
Fundraising for House of Science NZ Charitable Trust

House of Science (https://houseofscience.nz/) is a charitable organisation that brings amazing science kits to kaiako and ākonga in primary and intermediate schools. A new 'Forest Health' kit is coming and I am fundraising in the hope of adding the kit to the Wellington branch.
I love to run trails and have signed up to run the 50km WAI2K Ultra, one of the events in the WAI Run Festival (https://www.wuu2k.co.nz/wai2k-events) on Saturday 23 November, with over 2,500m of vertical gain on trails that wind through native forest. I’d love for it to make a difference, by bringing a new House of Science kit to children, that shows the importance of caring for our special forests. Thank you so much for your incredible support. I am delighted to let you know the target amount has nearly been raised! The Forest Health kit will definitely be a part of the House of Science's kit library for 2025, benefitting hundreds of children in over 45 Wellington schools, teaching them about how special our native forests are.
In the last 3 months I've ran 384km with 9,120m of elevation gain, walked 263km with 5,113m of elevation gain and spent hours on strength, stability and stretching. When I stand at the start line, 6am on Saturday morning, my heart will be full of gratitude as I take on 50km of adventure through forest, streams, mud and lots of hills! When I get tired I'll be able to dig deep, knowing each step counts.

(I'll post an update next week, after I've finished the event, but for now here's a photograph of part of the trail - through Norbett Creek Loop, in Kaitoke Regional Forest - I'll be simultaneously seeing orange triangles, whilst trying not to trip on tree roots!)
