We are a family trying to raise awareness towards bowel cancer.

Running for Michael

On November 2, our family will be coming together to take part in the Auckland Marathon, each of us competing in a range of events, united to honour the life of Michael Washer, to support our beloved cousin/niece/sister/daughter Aliesha, and to raise awareness for bowel cancer.

Michael was diagnosed with bowel cancer in September 2024 and passed away nine months later on June 21. Just two months before his passing, on April 24, Michael and Aliesha were married – a beautiful moment of love and commitment that we will carry with us on every step of this journey.

This run is more than just a marathon – it’s a tribute. Every stride we take is for Michael, to celebrate his life, and to stand beside Aliesha in love and solidarity. All donations raised through our efforts will go directly to a bowel cancer charity of Aliesha’s choice, helping to support research, awareness, and those currently facing this disease.

Together, as a family, we run for Michael.

All donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support - Hastie’s, Clarks, Burke’s, Mckillop’s and Washer’s.
