Salesforce NZ is teaming up with Partners and Customers to raise funds for the NZ Cancer Society by doing the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge
Auckland
Some pretty unconditioned Salesforce employees are teaming up with Salesforce Partners and a few key customers to cycle 160kms around Lake Taupo to raise awareness and funds for the New Zealand Cancer Society.
Salesforce will match any funds raised (up to $5000.00 USD),
Craig Skinner - Commercial Sales Director for Salesforce (NZ):
"Most people have been impacted by Cancer in one way or another....
My older brother died aged just 32 years having been diagnosed with bone cancer in his right femur approx 5 years earlier.
Earlier this year, my wife Tracey was diagnosed with MTC (Medullary Thyroid Cancer) - a particularly rare form of thyroid cancer that accounts for less that 5% of thyroid cancers and can really only be cured by radical surgery.
Tracey subsequently had a bi-lateral neck dissection to remove her thyroid and a total of 123 lymph nodes.
Thankfully, it looks like skillful surgery has saved her life as test results since the operation have shown undetectable levels of calcitonin, which is produced by active MTC cancer cells.
Not everyone who has such a diagnosis is as fortunate as we have been, and whilst on-going tests are necessary to monitor calcitonin levels, we remain very optimistic.
Any funds that Salesforce, our Partners and our Customers raise through this challenge go directly to the NZ Cancer Society who do an amazing job educating people, researching new drugs and therapies and providing on-going support to cancer sufferers/survivors."
