Muscular Dystrophy New Zealand is a worthy charity that focus on all Neuromuscular Conditions which are heart wrenching disease.

Canterbury

I am participating in the University of Canterburys 2018 Charity Boxing fight. This involves 8 week of rigorous training all working towards fighting on the 19th July, 3 x 2 minute rounds. All for Charity. I have selected Muscular Dystrophy New Zealand as the charity I wish to fight for.

I hold this cause close to my heart due to a personal encounter with the heart wrenching disease that is Muscular Dystrophy. My Gran suffered from Muscular Dystrophy, watching the pain she was in as her condition slowly deteriorated was heart wrenching.

Muscular Dystrophy New Zealand is a worthy charity that focus on all Neuromuscular Conditions. Progressive muscle wasting leads to loss of mobility and independence, and there are often major impacts on organ systems, which can result in early loss of life. Sadly this was very much the case for my Gran. All independence was lost resulting in her completely losing herself and not long after her life.

Muscular Dystrophy New Zealand offer services targeted toward individuals and whānau with lived experience of a neuromuscular condition.

My Gran suffered from this heart wrenching disease, it had a huge impact on her life and everyone around her. I wish to help people in a similar situation in any way possible.
