Seb's First Marathon
Toddler takes on the full marathon distance to raise awareness for Heart Kids New Zealand.

Two-year old, Sebastien, has his eyes set on his first marathon on 30th August 2020. He plans to cover 42 kilometres in the capital city to raise awareness for Heart Kids New Zealand, having undergone emergency open heart surgery at the age of 20 months . He has enlisted local endurance athlete and GP, Kim, as his stroller stoker for the job. They're already fave training buddies knocking out adventures around the Hutt Valley since he moved here in May 2020. His sporting accolades already include 20 kilometres of the Hutt River Trail (including four different playground stops), peak bagging Cannon Point and Remutaka Trig, and exploring the South Coast out to Pencarrow Lighthouse.
He intends to complete his marathon with a steady supply of crackers while admiring some of his fave local trails.
A 2016 study of childhood cardiac procedures found that the median cost for children who underwent cardiac surgery was $51,302 ($32,088-$100,058). Donate to Seb's Wellington Marathon stroller run to help support Heart Kids NZ.

Super proud of Mr 2. He's absolutely the best wingman, adventure buddy, and son that a stepmama could ever hope for.
We knocked out the Ian Priest Memorial Marathon in 3hrs 58m!! That included Mr 2 smashing x2 snack boxes (we grabbed the 2nd one at the halfway mark), a tiny portage section when we couldn't squeeze through the gate nr Maymorn, a wee break, decent chunks of gravel trail, lots of song singing ranging from Wheels On The Bus to ABC, and spotting lots of birds, flowers and a few diggers along the way.
The young man appears to be developing an outstanding sense of humour when he mooned his naked butt at me through the window of the pram at the 36km mark. "Look at the pram window, Kim". #joker
We've raised nearly $1,600 for Heart Kids NZ and we're blown away by the support on course.
