Help Seniors ASAP Trust to get a wriggle on!

In our senior years we all want to be able to live our best life.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for a lot of our seniors. An increasing number of our Nana’s, Poppa’s, Kuia, Kaumatua, Grandad’s, Granny’s, Oma’s, Opa’s and people over the age of 65 are experiencing abuse and neglect. With an ageing population the number of seniors experiencing physical, emotional, sexual, verbal and financial abuse will increase.

Seniors ASAP Trust is a new Charitable Trust set up in Whangarei to provide Advice, Support, Action and Protection to older people at risk of or experiencing elder abuse and neglect. We also support families, friends, professionals and communities to understand this subject better. We use the name ASAP because older people experiencing abuse or neglect need help to be provided as soon as possible. Because, for them, time is of the essence. We do this by providing social work services to support older adults being as safe as possible.

We believe that everyone should have access to helpful and practical information and interventions when they need it. That's why we create opportunities for individuals, family members, and professionals to learn about this stuff.

Our team is committed to supporting families to get this right and to stand alongside older people at risk when this isn’t happening. We believe that well-co-ordinated systems and services are needed to achieve the best possible outcomes for at-risk older adults, and we can provide this – with your help!
