Raising awareness for the Motor Neurone Association. They help & support many families across NZ who have been diagnosed with this disease.
Auckland
As most of you know I have signed up to a Charity Fight Night. I would like to raise awareness and help support others & their families who have been diagnosed with this disease.
The Charity I have chosen is Motor Neuron disease. My Granddad who is a huge influence in my life has recently been diagnosed. All my life I've known him to be incredibly active, hard working and always out to have a bit of fun. He loves fishing on his boat, working on the farm, building all sorts of things, travelling in his motor home & especially loves sharing his wisdom with his grandchildren.
A couple of years ago my granddad's left arm started twitching and movement in his arm started to deteriorate. After many tests the doctors have diagnosed him with Motor Neurones disease. This has dramatically changed all of our lives. All of the things he loves to do, he is no longer capable of doing on his own.
Motor Neurone disease (MND) describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. With MND, messages from these nerves gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen and waste.
Please follow my journey & donate generously to help others in need of support.
