Fundraising for The Kindness Collective Foundation
Nationwide
I'm jumping in the sea every day in August (winter) in Wellington to fundraise for Kindness Collective!
The water temperature in the harbour is currently about 11°C and over the month it will probably drop to 10°C or lower. Normally at this time of year I would get in the ocean once a week (if that), so this will be a 'refreshing' challenge for me and it's an opportunity to raise money for Kindness Collective (https://www.kindness.org.nz/).
Kindness Collective is a New Zealand charity that connects kids and families with the things they need – during winter this includes warm PJs, blankets, enough food, and much more. In my very small way I would like to help so, if you can, please support my month of cold-water swims to raise funds for them! Every little bit helps.
I will post updates through the month. And of course if any swim buddies want to jump in with me along the way, the more the merrier!
Day 31 31 August 2024
Weather: cloudy, fresh northerlies, high of 17°C
Princess Bay
The final day and I made it to the South Coast! It was overcast but the rain held off. Six of us were there (pretty good for 9am on a Saturday in winter). Considering it was a south coast beach the water wasn't too cold and we stayed in for a while. There was also a seal on the beach which I'd completely missed until someone pointed it out! After our dip we drank tea and ate cookies. Since this is the final day I've posted a video instead of the usual picture, of all the dips over the past month (you'll see the seal at the end). I'm proud that I kept my promise to get in the sea every single day. I enjoyed it, especially when people joined me (which was often), and I'm so grateful to live near all these awesome beaches. Thank you to everyone who donated; I'm going to top it up a little today to reach the $1,000 mark!
That is very generous, thanks for your kind donation!
Thanks Andrea!
