Fundraising for the Auckland Buddhist Centre build

In a former warehouse in Mt Eden, Auckland, we're trying to build an oasis in the midst of city life: somewhere for people who need spiritual uplift, and who want to become more clear-thinking, compassionate, creative and peaceful individuals in this modern world.

We're trying to build an urban Buddhist Centre!

The new building needs work - and we're just 14% short of the total funds needed to start renovations in November 2024.

I'm Suvarnadhi, the chair of the Auckland Buddhist Centre, and I'm wanting to raise $NZ10,000 towards the remaining amount needed for renovations through this page. Give a little or a lot to sponsor me to do a 24 hour puja-thon in the makeshift shrine room in Mt Eden - that's 24 non-stop hours of Buddhist devotional ritual to support these fundraising efforts! Hopefully a live stream will help you make sure I stay awake!

We did it! 15 October 2024

With the help of many friends leading and participating in different pujas over the 24 hours, I made it to the end! It was a wonderful community experience and thanks to all our supporters we raised close to $6,000! A massive thank you to everyone who helped in so many ways (soup, chocolate, coffee, napping next to me, drumming to keep me awake, being willing to read the Bodhicaryavatara at 3am and so on...) It was fun. I reckon we should do it again some time.
