Support whanau to grow healthy Kiwi kids

We believe that all children should have access to a healthy breakfast and arrive at school on time, well-fed, full of energy, and ready to learn. The breakfast club provides a space where children can socialize with their friends and help staff to serve and help clean up. Parents also have opportunities to provide a ‘koha’ or ‘trade’ kai at the breakfast club. Our kai is shared amongst our community.

We also believe in educating children to grow sustainable vegetable gardens to help feed their whānau. A high percentage of families are struggling to make ends meet during this cost-of-living crisis. Our trustees see our ‘mara kai’ as part of a solution to today's cost of living crisis.

We teach tamariki how to grow and care for veggie gardens, cook meals using those vegetables, and why vegetables are good for us. We also share knowledge about Maramataki Maori, which is about using the lunar cycles and seasons to cultivate healthy crops

Our services give families a sense of security and peace of mind. We support them in their efforts to provide for their families. We enable the next generation to grow their own kai and share it with the community.
