Supporting Youth Nelson/ Rangatahi o Whakatū to replace the resources needed for their mahi with young people
Nelson / Tasman
Youth Nelson/ Rangatahi o Whakatū is an alternative education centre for students aged 12-16 in Nelson who have fallen out of mainstream education. The program supports second chance learners, addressing pastoral issues while following the NZ curriculum.
On May 26 2025, the Youth Nelson premises were flooded when sudden, intense rainfall caused flash flooding across Nelson. Computers, books, furniture and kitchen appliances were wrecked, while the carpets and floors need to be lifted to allow the building to dry out. This will cause significant disruption to student learning for the foreseeable future.
Youth Nelson runs on a very tight budget, and do not have extra funds to replace damaged items. Your support will allow them to replace essential learning resources, supplies, and equipment, as well as providing transport and activities to keep rangatahi connected and engaged.
Funds will be paid directly to Rangatahi o Whakatū / Youth Nelson.

Ngā mihi nunui ki a koutou.
Your generous donations towards the flood relief of Rangatahi o Whakatū / Youth Nelson have been AMAZING!
So often our young people in the Alternative Education space have the impression that they are second class citizens or of little worth, and this is often reinforced by the poor quality of resources and learning spaces they inhabit.
Your attention, generosity and kind words have contributed to them feel valued, safe and SEEN by their community across the motu in a positive way.
We can't thank you enough.
