The Hope Exhibition will be a celebration of artistic creativity and the beauty of life. Join us at the Dunedin Community Gallery for an exhibition of paintings, photography, multimedia works and sculpture that will raise your spirits.
We would really appreciate donations so we can help our artists buy the materials needed to create their artworks. If you can't donate, please feel free to help out in other ways.
We have a saddeningly high rate of suicide in New Zealand; ten to eleven people die every week from suicide in New Zealand. That’s three people every two days. There needs to be more discussion about suicide prevention and how family, friends and colleagues can identify someone at risk and help them get professional support.
Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust is based here in Dunedin, and does an admirable job of reducing the rate of suicide and suicidal behaviour in New Zealand communities by raising awareness, promoting suicide prevention strategies, implementing community education and support, providing bereavement support and generally reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
All proceeds raised from this exhibition will be donated to Life Matters to help them with their admirable work.
I've decided to run this exhibition because I believe life is a beautiful thing. We lose far too many precious lives to suicide. Let's celebrate the beauty of life by enjoying art.
