Ultramarathon for Learn Active!

$3,250 of $3,000 goal
Given by 31 generous donors in 9 weeks

Fundraising for Learn Active, a charity which provides outdoor education opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities.

Canterbury

I'm currently training for my first ultramarathon (which coincidentally will also be my first marathon) - a 50km off road adventure in Taupo on October 12th. The adventure and challenge is almost enough motivation for me, but knowing that I'm going to be raising funds for Learn Active is helping me out the door on these chilly Canterbury evenings!

I have been volunteering for Learn Active for over a year, assisting with their outdoor education programs for people with intellectual disabilities. I have chosen to fundraise specifically to assist with the payment of program fees for students who are unable to pay the full amount.

The money raised will help to ensure that the students can continue attending Learn Active, where I can clearly the huge benefits the activities such as rockclimbing, orienteering, hiking and kayaking have on them. Each week, I see skills, relationships and confidence develop - not to mention all the fun we have!

Ultramarathon Complete!  15 October 2019

Hi everyone - I'm pleased to let you all know that I completed the ultramarathon on Saturday. It was 50km of fun mixed in with a fair bit of pain! My friend Yeri and I ended up coming 3rd in our age group, and 8th females overall, so we are very happy with that, especially given all the hard work we put in training.

This Givealittle page will be open for a few more days if anyone else would like to donate :)

Cheers

Sarah
