TimeOut connects generous holiday home owners with people with terminal illness so they can spend quality time with their family.
Nationwide
Just weeks before New Zealand went into Alert Level 4 lockdown, our family found out my father Al had stage 4 lung cancer. The timing made spending time together very difficult, especially as we were in different cities.
Recently, I was fortunate enough to utilise the services of TimeOut and spend some incredibly valuable time around the Marlborough Sounds with my mum and terminally ill dad.
While no donation from me could ever put a price on that time together, sharing this charity and mission with my greater network, and encouraging more holiday-home owners to get involved, is the least I can do.
My plan is to run the Queenstown Half Marathon, and raise awareness and some money along the way.
There are so many ways you can help TimeOut and families like mine:
- Got a spare dollar? Donate it.
- Got a holiday-home or AirBnB? Consider donating time in your off-peak periods.
- Got socials? Please share this page.
I have some wonderful ideas to see me through this campaign, so stay tuned as they evolve.

Yeow! We did it! 21 November 2020
9 weeks of this campaign is coming to an end tomorrow at midnight! Thank you to everyone that has shared this journey with me and supported me along the way.
I'm more than blown away by how much we've raised and so is the team at TimeOut.
After crossing that finish line, I've just enjoyed the Big Al burger at Ferg Burger in tribute of the old man, followed by the most delicious beer. Now it's time for a nap!
Thanks team! 👊
