I have seen first-hand through my mentoring and friendship with Xanthe how impactful mentoring can be in building confidence in tamariki and helping them discover new possibilities as they navigate through life. Any funds we can raise will support more mentoring matches like mine and Xanthe’s right here in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Plus, the kind people at Hanmer Spring Bungy have said that if I can raise $600 they’ll give Xanthe a free bungy jump. If we reach $1200 then we can do a tandem jump. Wouldn’t that be an awesome new experience to give her.

WE JUMPED! Thank you so very much  21 March 2022

Hey everyone, Just wanted to say a huge thank you once again for your kind and generous donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters. With your epic fundraising efforts we were able to put a lovely big sum of $1250 to BBBS to support the life-changing work they do. We also raised enough to take Xanthe bungy jumping! Holy heck that 12 yr old is brave. We made a video of the jump, please enjoy.

When Jessie first decided to take the leap to apply to be a Big Sister, she thought very carefully about the important commitment she would be making to be a life-affirming and supportive mentor for a young girl. It is so heart-warming to have watched the wonderful relationship she has fostered with Xanthe flourish over the last 2 years and the photos are evidence of the bond they have between them. In fact, it seems like they have been 'sisters' for much longer than that. I’m certain that the personal growth that Xanthe has made over this time has been well and truly matched by the satisfaction and joy that Jessie has had in providing guidance and being there for her every step of the way. It’s so exciting that soon they may be taking an exhilarating Bungy leap together side by side as Little Sister and Big Sister. I’m so proud of you Jess.
