Breaking Boundaries

Breaking Boundaries is a non-profit creative arts organisation for LGBTQI+ people in Aotearoa.

Auckland

Breaking Boundaries [BRKBND] is a non-profit creative collective for queer and gender diverse people in Aotearoa. We aim to uplift, empower, and cultivate local LGBTIQ+ creative talent. We do this by developing free/low cost/accessible events, fostering collaboration, and supporting the creative endeavours of others.

Throughout the year we organise free (or koha entry) creative events. We have been able to host workshops for international artists such as Alok Vaid-Menon (DarkMatter) and Sophie Labelle with no cost to participants. We also work to partner with artists to bring their works to life as an overhead support organisation.

Our events are catered to people aged 17+ (though many are age-unrestricted) as social events for people transitioning to young adulthood in our community are limited. We also aim to ensure our events are as accessible as possible.
