Cat Rescue Wanaka is an independent Charitable Trust dedicated to caring for stray and abandoned cats in the Wanaka and Upper Clutha district.

Our focus is to reduce the stray cat population.

Cats that are young enough to be socialised are uplifted, vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and fostered in preparation for adoption to a permanent home. Cats that are unable to be socialised are vet checked, desexed, vaccinated, ear tipped for identification, and returned to their original home location.

We are a strict NO kill charity and rely solely on volunteers and the generosity of donors and fundraising to finance the work we do.

Cat Rescue Wanaka is 5 years old this month! 7 August 2023

On 1 August 2023, we reached a milestone - CRW turned 5 years old! It has been a roller coaster journey - learning on the job, and not so much sweat, but definitely "blood, time, and tears". We have helped over 400 cats and kittens in that time, providing all the vet treatment they needed, and for most, moving from loving foster homes to become part of a forever family. This is the happiest of outcomes. Our TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) cats also do so much better than if they were left to fend for themselves. We love seeing them content, healthy, and not breeding (!). Thank you, as we truly couldn't do it without your support. Nga mihi nui, Rachel and The CReW (human and feline) x
