Christchurch Aunties coordinate donations and practical support for women and children through Canterbury refuges and support agencies.
Canterbury
When women and children arrive at refuges, they often arrive with nothing more than they are wearing.
Christchurch Aunties, with the aid of a network of over 5700 volunteers and supporters, have become the vital link to more than 18 service providers by sourcing donations to match requests from refuges and support agencies, such as; toiletries, mobile phones, security cameras, Safelets, furniture, bedding, white ware, and essential kitchen items.
We also support community organisations in Christchurch such as Linwood Avenue Community Corner Trust, Dress For Success, and PIPS, and whose kaupapa is closely aligned with ours.
The Christchurch Aunties provides practical support and donations to women and children who have experienced family violence and hardship through multiple agencies we collaborate with in Canterbury.
Funds raised will be used to purchase food and clothing vouchers for the women and children at the refuges, and those who are starting their new homes.
