Help Fair Food deliver rescued food to those facing food insecurity due to Covid-19. Hunger has no place in NZ. Food should be fair for all.
The Fair Food charity delivers rescued food to charities, food banks and community agencies throughout Auckland – including domestic violence teams, women’s refuges, homeless and teen-parenting agencies. Instead of being dumped, this food is doing good.
Covid-19 has seen a huge increase in food rescued as a result of business closures, panic buying and the impact on the supply chain. At the same time, the numbers of vulnerable people facing food scarcity have risen, whether through job loss or fear of leaving the house to shop. It is estimated 1 in 5 New Zealanders are going hungry. Hunger has no place in New Zealand.
Fair Food is an essential social service and an unseen connector between food businesses with surplus good food and those in need.
Be a Covid-19 Food Rescue Superhero from your home. Help get tons of good food to those that need it. Please donate now. A little goes a long way.
More about us
Fair Food, Auckland’s first food rescue charity, has the audacious goal of ‘Addressing Hunger – Tackling Food Waste’. We rescue fit-to-eat, surplus, nutritious good food from primary producers, manufacturers & retailers that would otherwise go to land-fill, and redistribute it free of charge to people who struggle to put food on the table. With both social and environmental benefits, food rescue is a ‘win-win’. Fair Food sorts & redistributes the rescued food to numerous community social agencies, charities and foodbanks. Each week Fair Food rescue and redistribute enough to nourish 5,000-10,000 people. Being a nimble, lean, well-run service, we can rescue & redistribute 3 meals for a $1. So even a dollar makes a big difference in someone's life, and for the planet.
