Fair Food

Fair Food is Auckland’s original food rescue charity. We were founded in 2011 in West Auckland and we’re on a mission to feed people, not landfill!

Our trucks are on the road each day rescuing surplus quality food from growers, manufacturers and retailers and we re-distribute this food to charities, food banks and community agencies throughout Auckland.

Fair Food is an essential social service and a connector between food businesses with surplus good food and those in need. In the past two years we've redistributed over 2,000,000 kilos of food. That's nearly 5.3 million meals for our community groups including family violence teams, women’s refuges, the homeless, mental health and teen-parenting agencies and many, many more.

The COVID pandemic has seen a huge awakening in the food rescue sector due to the impact on the food supply chain and a growing awareness that food can be repurposed for good. At the same time, the numbers of vulnerable people facing food scarcity have risen. It is estimated 1 in 5 New Zealanders face food insecurity; unsure where their next meal is coming from, or how to pay for it. Hunger has no place in New Zealand.
