Gideon Equestrian

Creating a facility. Human and animal welfare, equine education & empowerment to the local community $10,000 to raise this month

Auckland

Our Objective

(GIDEON) is setting up to be a Charitable trust designed to help people and horses of New Zealand. Dedicated to promote equality, dignity and compassion for human welfare and horse welfare.

Our Actions

Teaching youth and adults about horses and horse riding, understanding connections and balance.

Furthering equine education by giving people knowledge who may not be able to afford it.

Also another part to our work is retraining and reeducating horses in need of a new direction (ex racehorses) or help, creating well mannered useful riding horses with a happier brighter future.

Program Actions:

To provide opportunities for youth and adults that don’t have their own horses to learn equine communication, to be involved with horses where the opportunity may not be open to them. To impact local community needs by offering a free service to those less fortunate, providing interaction with no discrimination. To support and include vulnerable woman and the elderly.

This offers opportunity for people to become volunteers, to be further involved with horses.

The purpose and objective that underlines GIDEON, is being a ‘safe house’ environment, that builds the connection and understanding between humans and horses. Gideon is a riding facility with a difference and many charitable acts.

More about us

The Objective:

To create and build a training facility to home and rehabilitate ex racers/horses in need to an exceptional safe standard to then go on in life as a well trained riding horse- To create a place hugely socially causative for horses and people. A place for people to come and learn common sense horsemanship and care as future riders and horse owners. To create a haven for both horses and people.

Education for people and future horse owners.

Education to horses that need aligning to go on to the next stages of their riding life.

Objective to aid this short term goal (first 6 months from October 2015) is to provide a permanent facility able of re training these race horses to a standard suitable and safe for public interaction. To create a haven for this work to be based from and excel from.

Midterm goal, (from the first 6 months to 18months) is to create a safe and educational environment to open to others such as community based groups and foundations. Rest homes, social groups , the blind foundation, woman and children helpline and sickness groups to facilitate these special groups to come in contact with horses an opportunity that isn’t widely open to them in a loving, safe and supportive atmosphere. Hold tutorials and clinics with current horse owners in help of guidance and support in their own equestrian endeavours.

Long term goal, (from the first 18 months beyond) to have the facility in full swing, to then be able to create a national standard contract between buyers to symbolise a humane exchange of equine being.

Our point of difference to Pony Clubs, riding groups or RDA is to create awareness designed for helping and producing horses that need a second or third chance. We need to do something for these horses not the ones that are currently in sport. The ones used as a machine not a loved procession, we need to find compassion and give back. Rehabilitation process depending on the individual can take 1 week to 6 months. There is a safety standard these horses will have to pass to be classed as re habilitated horses ready for public connection.

Gideon Equestrian currently uses safety manuals and procedures to ensure all health and safety laws are being used and abided by in full effect, to ensure the up most care and due diligence to any persons in and around an equestrian environment. All initial horse handling and training with the race horses or horses in need will be done by trained professionals only.

The Promise and Guarantee:

All funds raised, grants awarded to or donated to Gideon Equestrian Rehabilitation Tauranga will be going 100% directly toward what they are intended for. You will be updated on progression and invited to be a part of this journey. You will be given first invitation to events, updates on horses that will be coming through Gideon Equestrian and notified of all open days and organisations that we encounter and urge you to personally experience Gideon Equestrian and see the progresses yourself.

From aiding in this mission you are helping towards a supreme case of animal welfare. You are aiding in community spirit and giving opportunities to those that may have dramatic life changings positively through influence of horse empowerment. You are helping horses that have done so much for humans (and in most cases earnt a lot of money for them on the racetrack to then be disregarded) to then flourish into a new life, be given a chance to be loved and embraced as a horse rather than a machine. Prevention is better than a cure. The cycle is to prevent, make aware and understand. The cure is to start.

Meeting Community Criteria:

Gideon Equestrian provides a 2 way success for helping horses and people in the local area and beyond. It is the up most precaution that our environment is created with the community’s safety in mind, the plan and the spaces provided, the horses that interact with the community are only those that pass our standard of personality and manners and reach the safety standards to do so.

We are creating a haven for horses and a haven for people to come and learn about how to care for horse properly. To interact and to enjoy those in a special safe place that gives an opportunity to the community have this contact where the possibility may not have been open to them. Opening opportunities for voluntary work and farm helpers.

We have a location locked in we just need the help to put training facilities for the horses there.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
