Hamilton Volunteer Fire Brigade

The city of Hamilton, in the Waikato Region of New Zealand is served by a "composite" fire brigade - a brigade which incorporates both paid (or career) and volunteer personnel. The New Zealand Fire Service (NZFS) is the organisation responsible for providing fire and rescue services within urban areas such as Hamilton and is the parent body that our members are all a part of. In legal terms an area must be gazetted as an Urban Fire District in order for the NZFS to establish a fire brigade there and this is why you might have heard of us as the "Hamilton Fire District" volunteers.
