Since 1902 the Hawkes Bay SPCA has been working on behalf of our community and its stray and abandoned animals.

Auckland

Enforcing the Animal Welfare Act 1999; Offering a 24 Hour Emergency Service; Educating and inspiring learners of all ages; Rehoming stray, abandoned and unwanted animals; Providing Pet Encounter Therapy sessions for the elderly and disabled; Controlling Feral Cat populations; Offering a Microchipping service; Providing an annual Desexing Scheme in June/July; Working closely with the Police, CYF and Napier City Council.

Historically our Branch will be remembered for providing house-to-house visits throughout the district immediately after the Bay earthquake of 1931. These days, we are responsible for over 1,600 animals that come into our Centre each year. Our Animal Welfare Inspectors also patrol a huge area spanning the Napier/Taupo Summit in the North, to the Ngaruroro River in the South.
