Kindred Family Services

We partner with people of all genders to create practical pathways towards safety and a life free from violence.

Auckland

This year, like so many others, we have been affected by COVID-19 with our annual fundraising event, The Turning The Tide Event, initially postponed from May, then reframed into a virtual event in October.

The wellbeing of our community has always been our biggest motivator and for that reason when COVID levels were still uncertain, we made the call to avoid the mass gathering at Muriwai and instead ask our wonderful participants to do the walk wherever they choose - beach, bush, or backyard.

By taking part at your own place, in your own time, you can join the spirit of the event and help #TurnTheTide on family violence in northwest Auckland.

Kia Tīmata Anō is the name of our safe house. It means to begin and start again, which is true of the women and children who come into our care. Seeking refuge is a brave step and the people we take in are welcomed with wholehearted compassion into a safe and nurturing environment. Our house becomes their home. It is a space of healing and personal growth. When the work on healing trauma and establishing a better path has been done we help the transition to live independently, in safety, with self-confidence and hope for a better life.

We are experts in the family harm field, with dedicated advocates who work with all genders to help them on your journey away from violence. We receive referrals from the police and other agencies and are available on a Crisis Line 24/7.

It’s okay to ask for help. Our Women’s Refuge Crisis Line is available 24/7 on 021 842 917. If you are worried about a friend or a member of your family call us on 09 420 7992 and ask to speak to one of the Family Harm team.
