New Zealand’s kiwi population is in decline. Save the Kiwi is working to enable kiwi to flourish in their natural habitat, to take them from endangered to everywhere. We fund community-led kiwi conservation groups to help with predator control, kiwi population monitoring and community engagement, as well as providing access to expert knowledge, training and education. We want to inspire a passion in all New Zealanders to join in the fight to save our national icon. Our goal is to reverse the current decline of kiwi and start growing their numbers.

For years kiwi were struggling and quickly disappearing, but they’re now coming back. Hundreds of passionate Kiwis have dedicated their lives to protecting our national taonga, the kiwi. Save the Kiwi supports community-led kiwi conservation groups help them bring kiwi back to their landscapes. The mahi they do is making a difference. More chicks are reaching adulthood, more kiwi are surviving, and kiwi are returning all over Aotearoa New Zealand.

But they can't do it alone. We need every day Kiwis like you to keep this momentum going. Together, we can take kiwi from endangered to everywhere.
