Netsafe New Zealand

Netsafe helps with the impacts of real human harm online and provides online safety education and assistance nationwide.

Nationwide

Online harm isn't just a digital problem, it's a human one.....

Netsafe is a national, not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting New Zealanders for more than 27 years with a single mission: to help people stay safe online.

Behind every online scam, threat, or unwanted message is a real person being harmed. Someone being relentlessly messaged and harassed online. A teenager feeling exposed and vulnerable. An older person who's lost their savings.

This is happening in our communities, every day, often to those least able to protect themselves.

When harm happens, Netsafe is often the first place people turn to. Our free online harm helpline provides confidential advice, support and dispute resolution services five days a week. Each year, we receive and respond to more than 28,000 reports of online harm.

Alongside our helpline, we work with schools, whānau, and community groups nationwide to deliver online safety education and practical resources that empower people of all ages to navigate the digital world safely.

Our work is wide-reaching—and the need is growing. With your support, we can help more New Zealanders and ensure a safer online experience for everyone.

Netsafe has helped me build confidence in navigating the online world. As an architect and realtor working across New Zealand and Australia, my role requires constant exposure on social media—so online safety is essential to me. As a way of giving back, I chose to donate. I’ve also submitted reports for hacking attempts, spam, harassment, and bullying to ensure the individuals involved are held accountable.
