For only $1 per month, you can help the children of Potters Village, Ghana
Wellington
We were introduced to Potters Village two years ago, when my daughter spent three months volunteering there. She has just returned for her third visit and hopes to stay many months. I was privileged to visit this amazing place last year and it completely won me over to see these children who, despite their less than basic living conditions, were always smiling and happy.
Founded by Mama Jane Adu in 2000, Potters Village is a home for vulnerable women and currently about 100 children, many of whom are orphans. It relies mainly on donations from local churches, organisations and visiting volunteers and does not receive any government or other official aid.
Often, there is no food in the home, apart from some rice and other basic staples. It is clear that whilst the volunteers (mostly young people with not a lot of income themselves) are generous, it would be a major help if there was a regular income that could be depended on, however small.
I realise that there are many people who don't have enough money to feel that anything they could give would make a difference, so I have set up Only One Charity as a way for people to give as little as $1 per month.
You can make a one off donation via this site. Consider paying $12 so that you have covered the next 12 months, then do it again next year!
Please also take the time to like our Facebook page and help us to make $1 into enough to feed, clothe and educate these gorgeous children. There is more information and updates on Facebook.
All donations will go directly to Potters Village - the charity is run on a completely voluntary basis.
Potters Village is a home for vulnerable women and children in Dodowa, Ghana. They need help to feed, clothe and educate approximately 100 children, many of whom are orphans.
Only One is asking for donations of $1 per month to enable a regular monthly payment the home can rely on.
Join in now, if enough people get behind this, $1 per month will enable so much for these beautiful children
Potters Village celebrates 15 years 29 November 2015
The children at Potters have been celebrating its 15th birthday - 15 years since Mama Jane founded the home for vulnerable women and children. With no government or state help, this is an amazing achievement and I congratulate her, the helpers and the volunteers. The children are so grateful for a home and food, as well as an education in many cases. Thank you to the donors through the Only One charity - it is wonderful to be a part of this inspiring home.
