Empowering young people with disabilities through music and performance.
StarJam is a not-for-profit organisation that creates empowering opportunities for young people with disabilities (known as ‘Jammers’) to learn and develop skill sets, gain confidence, experience respect and build friendships that, because of their disability, they may not have had the opportunity to do. Whether they sing, play an instrument or dance, they are able to showcase their amazing talents.
StarJam currently operates in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington & Christchurch providing 13,320 programme places annually. Weekly workshops in drumming, guitar, dancing and singing. Jammers are free to explore and develop their potential, practice the social, emotional and physical skills they are learning and utilise within the wider community. Jammers also perform gigs at public and private events building confidence and self-belief.
The Jammers spring a surprise with a flashmob version of Lady Gaga's Born This Way. Awesome and inspiring. We're so proud of them!
