Taupo Riding for Development

Taupo District Riding for the Development is a charity organisation that provides a therapeutic, educational and/or social horse riding program's, Riding for Development program aims to increase confidence and self esteem, muscle strength and coordination for children and adults with physical, social and intellectual challenges.

We have 44 students on our role at present, 8 schools and 7 independent riders. We have a term fee, which has had to be increased due to costs of running. We would like to be able to keep the fee as it stands, so that we are available to all and run more sessions to be able to offer our help to any child/young adults that needs us.

We assess each child throughout the year to track progress and to re-evaluate, if needed, to improve outcomes.

We have over 30 volunteers who give their time to help the children/young adults and as committee members. We have some sponsorship through the community from local businesses and individuals.

If we are able to obtain funding and continue the local sponsorship, this would relieve some of the financial pressure and therefore focus on the children and young adults.
