Auckland

Headway is a charity dedicated to reducing the impact and incidence of concussion and brain injury through education, information, and connections.

We aim to create fewer injuries, better outcomes, stronger communities, and a reduced societal burden.

We achieve this through three strategic pillars:

Voice for Change: We advocate for behaviour change, raise public awareness, and influence policy to ensure concussion and brain injury are widely understood and well-managed.

Fit for Purpose Services: We equip individuals, whānau, and organisations with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to prevent, recognise, and respond to brain injury.

Collaborative System: We build meaningful partnerships to lead change and strengthen the systems of prevention, support, and recovery.

Headway’s services include personalised support and navigation, peer-led connect groups, the Making Headway Peer Support Programme, workplace training, and community capacity-building workshops. Operating from centres across Auckland’s North Shore, Rodney, West, South, and Central regions, we ensure our support is accessible and locally grounded.

Everything we do is guided by trusted research, lived experience, collaboration, courage, and inclusion. At our core, Headway is a connector - educating, guiding, and standing alongside people as they navigate life after brain injury.

Thank you, Guy; we are working hard to raise awareness and educate the community on the effects of concussion and brain injuries. We could not sit on the sidelines and let the Run It Straight events take place without calling it out and having the voices of experts heard. As a very small team and charity, we are so grateful for all the support through donations. Thank you! We will continue to speak out and amplify the call to educate communities.
