Helping young sportswomen women to realise their epic potential
Auckland
Now in it's 9th year the Tania Dalton Foundation was established to honour the legacy of Tania and to help young sports women reach their goals in high performance sport.
Currently 113 young women have been part of our three-year scholarship programme which provides financial and mentoring support as well as a unique sisterhood they can be part of.
All funds raised go directly to helping these impressive young women so they can take part in workshops and activities where they can dream big, focus on their wellbeing and navigate their journey from school to life as a professional athlete, tertiary study or work.
Our support is often the game changer for the families of these young women who are challenged by the high costs and demands of competing in their chosen sport(s).
We're proud that amongst our alumni and current recipients are national and international representatives, world champions and even a Gold Medal Olympian.
About Tania
Tania (or 'Teabag' to those who knew her well) is remembered for being an incredible sporting legacy, as one of New Zealand’s favourite Silver Ferns for over 11 years. She was a natural, talented athlete, that backed it up with guts and heart - as a player and a teammate. She played to win, hated to lose – but, even in defeat, was the ultimate good sport.
Even more than her sporting success though, she is remembered for how she lived every day. She lived as we might all strive to – never on the side-line, always in the action, bringing her A game as standard… with a big heart and an easy smile, sucking the juice out of life.
Tania and the Dalton family believe in the power of sport to teach us how to be our best. That the rules of the game help to guide us on and off the court or the field.
For some – that face extra challenges or adversity – the satisfaction and rewards found through sport may seem much harder to realise.
"Helping young people was a passion of Tania’s and, through the work of the Foundation, we honour her memory." - Duane Dalton
To help young sports women realise their epic potential.
Tania and the Dalton family believe in the power of sport to teach us how to be our best. The Tania Dalton Foundation exists to help girls, that face extra challenges or adversity to unlock their talent and their best selves, for their sport and for themselves – to live the biggest life they can. All funds raised will support these girls to be their best and honour Tania’s memory.

The Tania Dalton Foundation Clubhouse Gala Dinner, will be held at Eden Park on Thursday 13 August 2026.
This year we're bringing a fresh new feel to the event, with a modern clubhouse theme, inspiring stories, sporting legends, live entertainment, great food, and exciting auction experiences, all in support of young women pursuing their sporting dreams.
The Gala Dinner is our most important fundraising event of the year, helping us continue to provide scholarships for talented young women from backgrounds of hardship and adversity. Through financial support, mentoring, workshops, and leadership opportunities, our programme empowers young women to reach their potential both on and off the sporting field.
Today, more than 113 young women have benefited from a Tania Dalton Foundation scholarship, with many going on to represent New Zealand, achieve success in their chosen sports, and become leaders in their communities.
We would love you to join us for what promises to be a memorable evening of connection, celebration, and impact. Whether you attend, bid in the auction, donate, or simply help spread the word, your support helps create life changing opportunities for the next generation.
