The Club has achieved a lot in under 12-months but with our deadline of a September 2015 track build nearing, we need the communities help to get over the finish line.
The Club is awaiting the outcome of one other funding grant. We are confident we will be successful but know we have a shortfall of approximately $30 000. Your contribution will help us realise our goal as securing funding for a project of this size has its challenges!
The total cost of the build, including a car park, storage and landscaping is $193,000 ex gst. A big price tag but the end result for young people in our district can't be measured!
We have two contractors that have the machines and skill to build this track We have the Hurunui District Council's support, the support of school children district wide, local business and national funding provider NZCT and The Lion Foundation. Thank you!
This project has been my brainchild and a consuming one at that! I identified the need for more accessible recreational activities for young people after moving into the district. I then set about developing an idea that could be built by the community itself and not one that relies on another organisation to do it. As a result the community is very much behind this project and therefore it's a win win on so many levels.
The Hurunui BMX Club has been established to build an entry level competition BMX track in the township of Amberley in North Canterbury. Our aim is to provide a recreational activity that stimulates, challenges and allows young people to have a real presence in our community.
