Lets Rebuild a Sherpa Village in Nepal destroyed in the Earthquakes

$40 of $50,000 goal
Pledged by 2 generous supporters in around 6 months

Lets join as a global village to rebuild a Sherpa Village in a remote area of Nepal that was destroyed during the Earthquakes.

Wellington

I am writing this on behalf of my dear friend Nima Sherpa. He was raised in the Cheboche village in a remote area of Nepal. He used to have to walk 2 hours one way to get to school. In 2002 a group of Kiwis met Nima while tramping in Nepal and became life long friends after he helped take one of their party to safety following an illness on the trek.

Over the years they brought Nima back and forth from Nepal to NZ to help his village. In that time they started a charity (Cheboche Area Trust) that has helped to built a school and funded teachers so that regions children would get an education and not have to leave to go to Katmandu if they wanted an education. They set up solar power in all of the houses and built a community house and green house.

Then came the earthquake. As you can imagine there is no insurance for their village. 6 of the homes have been badly damaged and their neighbor's village is in even worse shape. Nima would like to ask New Zealanders to help to rebuild village. He estimates that it will cost $20,000.00 to rebuild his village and $40,000.00 to help rebuild their neighboring village.

If you would like to make a donation where 100% is gifted directly to effected communities this would be a great option.

The Cheboche Trust is a New Zealand Registered Charity Registration # CC23040

Nima is a member of the Cheboche village in the Everest Region that was damaged in the quake. He is fundraising to help his family back home and the neighboring village which had extensive damage.

About us

The Cheboche Area Trust (Trust) was started in 2002 by Katy and Bruce Austin and Di Patchett following a visit to the area. On seeing the needs of the village the three friends on their return to New Zealand decided to initiate a trust to support the village of Cheboche.
