Construction of six houses for earthquake effected families as a PERMANENT SOLUTION in remote villages of Nepal

International

Let’s give permanent solution to earthquake effected families from remote villages of Nepal

I am originally from Nepal and currently living in Auckland, New Zealand. As you know Nepal is marking the one-month anniversary of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that killed thousands of people and demolished more than half a million homes, most of them in rural areas.

The country remains perilously unstable with the risk of landslides from ongoing aftershocks, forcing thousands to leave their homes and camp out in open fields, just weeks before the start of seasonal monsoon rains. I am currently involve in several fund raising schemes for Earthquake victim in Nepal. Most of our current initiations are generally temporary relief works, which are very important in the initial stage, especially for country like Nepal. Now after a month it is time to think how can we rebuilt the country and work towards normalising the situation especially in remote area, where people have lost everything.

AIM (permanent solution):

My thought is “one to six families” help. If Nepalese living overseas could organise helping at least six families (about 30 people) then “only one million” (out of 4 million) Nepalese living overseas can help all earthquake effected people.

Therefore, my initiation is to provide a PERMANENT SOLUTION for at least 6 families (about 30 people). I think this would give them better stabilisation than anything else.

I have selected six families from remote village of Sindhupalchowk and Nuwakot district, which are the worst earthquake effected region. They need about NRs 250,000 (about US$ 2,500 or NZ$ 3,400) to build a “permanent”, “safe” house in their village. Please help me to raise fund for these families. I will myself initiate to construct their houses and will send you further progress information in the future (if your email is known)
