Auckland

Teau Aiterau is no celebrity. He’s the hard-working and generous guy behind Mangere BikeFit which just celebrated its first anniversary.

The cycling initiative has ensured hundreds of children and older have been introduced to riding a bike, learnt road safety or how to repair bikes as well as been apart of the club’s school holiday programmes and many sports events around our community.

He says all this work is about promoting health and fitness to Mangere and having fun whilst doing it.

“We have a vision for Mangere to become the ‘Cycling Capital of the Pasifik’,” he says.

“We hope to have more people on bikes and push for more bike lanes connecting schools, shops and parks.”

The programmes are all based out of the Mangere Community House on Robertson Road and Teau has a large number of bikes which young and old can use for free to hone their cycling skills.

“Cycling is the go for me and I want to see our kids healthier so I’ve been running this program so we can teach kids all about bikes, about safety, how to fix bikes and how to build them and then we go for a rides.”

Proceeds from this fundraising effort will go towards covering programme-associated costs including: bike equipment and tools, promotion, overheads.

Mangere East ACCESS Trust's involvement (page creator)

I am a member of the local Mangere community and have seen the positive impact Tee's BikeFit programme has had on the community. We're super proud of what Tee and his team have achieved thus far and helping set up this Give A Little page is the least I can do to support.
