Help create a memorable experience for young people living with Tourette Syndrome. Support Camp Twitch 2018, Ngaruawahia, Oct 1-5th.
Nationwide
Camp Twitch is an annual five-day camp for young people living with the neurological disorder Tourette Syndrome - a disorder characterised by constant physical and vocal tics.
Tourette Syndrome is a rare, neurological disorder that develops in childhood. While it is genetic, the exact cause of Tourette Syndrome is not yet known and there is no cure.
Each year more than 100 people from all over New Zealand come together to enjoy the chance to socialise in an environment that does not judge or ridicule them for the tic disorder they have that they have no control over.
Often for those attending camp, it is the first opportunity they have ever had to meet someone else with the disorder.
Due to the fact that most of those attending camp experience bullying on a regular basis, either at school or in public, the friendships made and experiences had at Camp Twitch are life changing.
We would love your support to help make Camp Twitch 2018 an amazing experience for those young people attending this year.
We offer peer support for children, adults and parents of those with Tourette Syndrome. We also administer a website and provide information services for those with TS as well as schools if necessary.
Funds will be used to provide activities for the children (e.g. paintball or swimming) and any surplus will be used invite families unable to attend due to financial reasons to attend at no cost.
