Raising funds to support the mahi of church agencies on the ground in Tonga.

Polokalama Ofa moe tokoni ae Kainga Katolika ma'a Tonga hili ae tsunami
Tonga has been devastated by the eruption of Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha’apai and the resulting tsunami. Communications and infrastructure have been severely damaged. There is an urgent need for drinking water, food and shelter.
Though the situation is still unfolding, Caritas is already delivering aid to people in Tonga. Some emergency supplies – such as water purification units, jerry cans, hygiene kits, buckets and water taps – that were already stored in Tonga are being distributed.
Our heart and our prayers are with our Tongan whanau. We feel called to respond. Bishop Michael and Patele (Fr) Line Folaumoeloa are leading a group organising an online fundraiser. Please save the date of 12 February! We will provide more details over the next few days.
Will you help us help the people of Tonga?
How can you and your group fundraise? All donations appreciated.
'Ofa atu to the people of Tonga - our condolences and prayers are with you.
Our Cathedral is the spiritual home of the Auckland Diocese providing a sanctuary in the city for prayer, worship, and pastoral care for thousands of people each year.
Funds donated will be received by the Bishop of Auckland and then dispersed to church agencies best able to assist the people of Tonga.
Malo! Today's the day! 12 February 2022
Thanks to the wonderful people, groups, parishes and schools who have donated already to support our family in Tonga. We are loving the mahi of so many groups and the way that they are raising money to support this appeal. This photo shows students from St Mary's School, Ellerslie who had a mufti day to raise funds. Please be sure to join us at 7pm this evening for an online event full of excitement - silent auction, musical items, shout outs, and more! Let us come together and show our support for our Tongan sisters & brothers 💙
