Auckland
On 2 July, Sarah Dwan, Principal of St Mary's College will be plunging into the ice-cold water for the ‘Iceberg’ swim on Waiheke Island. Sarah is again swimming to raise funds for St Pat’s Cathedral. Can you "jump in" and support Sarah? You can find out more about the swim at: https://oceanswim.co.nz/events/the-iceberg-waiheke/. Sarah will be joined by Raechelle Taulu, Principal of Marist College, and James van Schie, General Manager of the Auckland Catholic Diocese.
We are blessed with a very beautiful and unique historic church, perhaps one of the most prayed-in buildings in New Zealand…. a House of God, an Icon of Christ, the Mother Church, a Place of Prayer, an Oasis of Peace.
St Patrick's Cathedral is open and has a bright future but needs help to recover financially from the last couple of years. C'mon St Mary’s Whanau, please join me in sending a strong message of support to the Cathedral team and our College Chaplain, Fr Chris Denham. St Pat's is an important part of our community so please support this fundraiser.
You can sponsor Sarah’s swim by making a tax-deductible gift through this page to the Bishop – with all proceeds going to help the Cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph.

Thanks for your generous support 5 July 2022
Thank you to everyone who has very generously provided support for this great cause.
The swim itself was a challenge for me having had COVID at the start of June, a busy time at school, the College Ball the night before (if pasta from the buffet is not carb loading for the swim I’m not sure what is) and not actually doing any training from when I had COVID. The conditions on the day were ideal, but I am very pleased that it is done!
The Cathedral is a special place for St. Mary’s College and it good to be able to give back through this event. As a College we are looking forward to being back in the Cathedral for a full school mass next term. COVID has been challenging for so many in such a variety of ways and I very much appreciate the support.
The Cathedral team have also asked that I convey their gratitude to you for your support - know that it is truly appreciated.
