Queenstown Ice Skating Club thank RMT Builders and Lakes Weekly Bulletin for sponsoring Cookie and Jodi.

About Jodi:

I’m the Social Anthropologist for the Lakes Weekly Bulletin. This means I generally live a thoroughly hedonistic lifestyle so when I was nominated for Stars on Ice I thought it would be a great way to give something back to Queenstown. Who better to support, than the passionate group of people that work tirelessly to make sure Queenstown’s youngsters can continue to dream of being figure skaters or Stampede players when they grow up?

Things I’ve learnt since I started Stars on Ice;

Despite my long-held belief that activewear should not be worn as fashion, activewear should be counted as fashion. My top and tights from Lululemon were more expensive than my brand new pair of figure skates.

Muscle memory isn’t a thing. My body has no memory that it could do 200 push ups without stopping 20 years ago. Now, my body only feels compelled to complete 3. This is an improvement on the 1 I could do 4 weeks ago, so that’s progress.

Finally, a massive shout out to my pro skating partner Cookie (and his family who have also been a big help) for being awesome and so patient about being paired with the least athletic person ever.

Really finally… if Cookie and I manage to make the most money for the club then I will quit smoking.

About Cookie:

Well this is my 2nd year running and really pushing for a Win this year. I have two daughters that are club members and a keen son with ice hockey so the ice is in my blood. Huge mention to Jodi for her trust in letting me throw her around the ice...... watch this space.

About us

Familiar faces have signed up to skate and are working hard to perfect their choreographic routines.

Fundraising from Stars on Ice will give the club a huge opportunity to give all club skaters the time on the ice they need.

Use of funds

All funds go towards purchasing ice time for the Club skaters to practice and develop their skills and follow their passion of figure skating.
