Nepal Earthbag School Rebuild Project
Help FSH rebuild early childhood centres & schools in earthquake devastated rural Nepal, using the earthbag construction method.
First Steps Himalaya provides early years education in 22 rural villages in the district of Sindhupalchok, approximately 70kms from Kathmandu. This district was the worst hit district in the Nepal April & May 2015 earthquakes, with high levels of destruction to buildings and high loss of life.
Help us to rebuild early childhood centres and schools using the earthbag construction method. This method is highly earthquake resilient, and low cost. Our rebuild will begin in September 2015 once the monsoon season has passsed.
Getting children back to school is also an important way to help them deal with the trauma of a major natural disaster.
We are a New Zealand registered charity providing early years education for rural Nepali children. We transform dilapidated, run down classrooms into stimulating learning environments, run by enthusiastic and motivated teachers. We train and support teachers and work with schools to ensure the best possible outcomes. We help schools to give children their “first steps” into a life of education.
