First Steps Himalaya improves early years education in rural Nepali schools and builds resilience of entire communities.
All over Nepal, children are receiving sub-standard education in dilapidated classrooms from untrained and demotivated teachers. This leaves them with limited life skills, vulnerable to exploitation and very likely to be stuck in a cycle of poverty and limited opportunities. We want to break that cycle and provide opportunities to these children to change their future through a quality education.
We are a New Zealand registered charity providing improved early years education and community resilience in rural Nepal.

First Steps Himalaya is expanding its services and is now working in 3 districts of Nepal and will soon reach 3 other districts with its cutting edge early years education programme. A new Community Resilience Programme has been launched in the wake of Covid-19 to support marginalised communities already vulnerable to the socio- economic impact of the pandemic. This will be critical in reducing alcohol abuse, domestic violence and child trafficking as well as promoting improved health and hygiene, sustainable agriculture, improved nutrition and environmental protection.
