Derek is a member of the New Zealand Men's Wheelchair Basketball Team and has been selected to compete at a Tri-Series tournament. Derek's team will face off against Thailand and South Africa in an intense competition in Thailand from 16th - 24th November 2019.
Wheelchair Basketball is one of the largest, most popular and fastest growing wheelchair sports in the world. New Zealand is in the Asia/Oceania Zone of 29 nations, and rates between 6th - 10th. The Roller Blacks must compete regularly at an international level to keep up with international standards and develop the sport in New Zealand.
The cost is NZD$2,048 per person.
However, there is no government funding for Wheelchair Basketball in New Zealand. Any contributions or donations to this trip would be hugely appreciated.
