Our Fabulous Charity needs a new van 💚

Wanganui East, Whanganui

We are a registered charity who serves the community of Wanganui. The Koha Shed founded by Sherron Sunnex in 2012 to help those in need operates five days a week, open to the public three days a week four hours a day. The Koha Shed provides free food packs, clothing, houseware, household furniture, tents caravans and showers for our most vulnerable, our homeless, advice , free events including christmas where Mrs Claus will hand out roughly 500 presents to our Tamariki. Christmas lunch also provided and lots more. Without our beautiful volunteers and our generous community this would not be possible. This would also not be possible without a vehicle. We are reaching out big time to buy a new Van. More space and with the price of petrol something alot more economical.

About us

The Koha Shed was founded in Whanganui by Sherron Sunnex in 2012. The Koha Shed serves the community by way of free food parcels, clothing, houseware, household furniture, showers, tent packs for our homeless, advice, and lots lots more.

Use of funds

We are reaching out big time here and are in desperate need of a new pickup and delivery van. Money will go on a new van and hopefully depending on price this will include signage. Our community will then spot us on the road and know exactly who we are.

Update Post  1 September 2023

1st day of spring. Happy workplace. We rearranged areas in the clothing departments to make it alot easier for our volunteers today. We mopped floors dusted shelves while half of our crew headed to the St Andrew's church to host our free Friday community lunch. We had to take that opportunity while the sun was shining to get a photo of our team at the end of the day 💜 love our volunteers. With only 3 months before Christmas we are in planning mode and are looking for a venue to once again host a Christmas community lunch. This will be on Christmas day as we know alot of our vulnerable dont have family to spend this day with. Others simply can't afford to eat anything outside their budget. We are here to cater for their needs. The menu on the day will be roast meats , vegetables and salads followed by desert. Treats for the kids and we can't forget the presents 🎁 its going to be great 👍

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
