VIRTUAL HOUSEWARMING PARTY!
When you move into a new house, you like to get some new things, particularly as the old things, somehow don’t seem quite up to scratch anymore, or you have been putting it off because you've needed the extra cash for the new house so we thought having a Virtual House Warming Party for the Museum is a great way to do it, The Staff & Volunteers at the new Museum would be most appreciative of some new equipment to go with their new building. Two things on their wish list are a new photocopier and a new vacuum cleaner as the ones they have now are so old they could almost be used as display pieces in the New Museum :) We would also love to purchase some Enjo cleaning products so we can keep with the environmentally friendly theme that Kaikoura is world renowned for.
This fundraising campaign is particularly aimed at those who live far from Kaikoura now, however donations from everyone are greatly appreciated. For all those who have such fond memories of Kaikoura and have been enjoying the virtual community of the Museum’s Facebook page as a way to share those memories, and stay connected with other Kaikoura-loving people.
The Museum gets some of its funding from entry tickets but for those who aren’t close enough to visit we thought you might like us to provide you with another way in which you can show your support.
If we exceed the fund-raising total, we're going to use the additional money to restore some items that we have wanted to do for a very long time, like textiles, and an 1890s baby pram.
Created by 2 ex Kaikoura girls with their history going back 6 generations in this beautiful town. One has been connecting ex KK residents back to their town and memories by way of a FB page and the other is an old school friend who wanted to help her old town but lives too far away.
Kaikoura Museum collects, preserves, manages and presents items and stories of importance to the Kaikoura District to promote interest in and learning about our unique natural, cultural and social heritage.
