Through our collections and programmes we promote interest in and learning about Kaikoura's unique natural, cultural and social heritage.

Canterbury

Kaikoura Museum showcases our communities diverse natural, social and cultural histories. In November 2016 we quietly opened in our new premises despite a 7.8 earthquake hitting our district just 5 days before our official opening!

Our Values:

Community, Hospitality/Manaakitanga, Potential, Stewardship

Our purpose:

To collect, preserve, manage and present items and stories of importance to the Kaikoura District to promote interest in and learning about our unique natural, cultural and social heritage.
