Race4Life needs your help to continue our beautiful work in fulfilling the wishes of palliative care patients NZ wide.
Nationwide
Due to the impact of Covid 19, Race4life had to postpone patient's wishes indefinitely. By the time we were in a position to fulfill these wishes again, at Alert Level One, we had 19 patients who had died while waiting and a further 30 patients on our Waiting List. The skeleton Wish Team, have tirelessly worked through the latter part of this year to honor those who have been waiting so long.
We have a further 20 wishes on our Waiting List for 2021.
Our dilemma is that our ability to fundraise for those that are immune compromised was completely stymied this year with Alert Level restrictions. As a result the Trust needs your donation to help fulfill the wishes of Palliative Care patients - these wishes make a huge difference in the lives of patients, their families and communities throughout New Zealand.
The aim of Race4LifeTrust is to enable people, living with life limiting illness, to realize dreams that they, and their families can cherish. Our mission is to fulfill the wishes of palliative care patients. In doing so we connect patients, their families and communities throughout New Zealand. We at Race4Life are exposed to the very best of humanity in the process. It is a privilege and an honour to witness
The Race4Life Trust is committed to:
- Raising the spirits and well-being of Palliative Care Patients throughout New Zealand, by providing opportunities for their wishes to come true.
- Facilitating services and the fulfillment of wishes of people, with life limiting medical conditions, in the palliative care community in New Zealand.
- Providing events and special occasions that bring together the Palliative Care communities in different regions of New Zealand.
The aim of Race4LifeTrust is to facilitate events for Palliative Care patients. These events connect patient family and community. Despite shutting down the individualised wish service, due to the impact of COVID the focus of the RACE4LIFE trust has continued by shifting to solely hold events with the aim of reaching the lives of as many palliative care patients as possible. The Hampton Downs Track Day event (which is where the Race4Life started) has continued to be run, and has become totally self-sufficient over 15 years. This has enabled the trust to continue to provide special MAGIC among the 600 people who attend.
The Trust has now built this event into a series of similar events and have subsequently replicated this model on the South Island at Teretonga Motor Sport Park in Invercargill, albeit a much smaller event. Plus in October 2024, the inaugural Central NZ Track Day event will take place at Manfeild Chris Amon Circuit in Palmerston North, with an estimated 450 people, expected to attend.
The funds will go towards supporting the Trust to continue its journey into 2021 and work through the waiting list of wishes to be fulfilled.
