Cultivate has a limited opportunity to salvage and restore this beautiful greenhouse from a private property in Prebbleton.
Canterbury
Cultivate Christchurch practices resourcefulness in order to maximise our social impact, lighten our ecological footprint and keep our budgeter smiling. In this instance, we need a little of your support to pull this off!
For several generations, the family who built this 30m x 6m greenhouse have grown cut-flowers until now as the land is about to be swallowed up by the city’s lurch to the south and west post-earthquake.
The owners are graciously allowing people to deconstruct and relocate the greenhouse structures rather than send it all to landfill, something that Cultivate feels is especially important to act on.
Cultivate Christchurch is building a network of productive urban farms propagated and powered by our next generation, creating a future of vitality and abundance.
With the support of our community, we inspire and engage young people to live lives they value value, in that:
a. They are connected to each other, their communities, their culture and the land.
b. They have a sense of purpose and direction and are motivated to succeed.
c. They have demonstrable, valuable skills and work experience.
d. Greater sense and actualisation of healthy eating habits.
e. They are supported with positive role models along their Education, Employment or Training (EET) pathway.
Cultivate Christchurch's new programme! We are focusing on exposing youth who are beneficiaries with mental illness to outdoor employment and careers. We aim to develop each persons confidence, awareness and an understanding of work in the natural world.
