SKYDIVING FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS & COMMUNITY WELLNESS
Gisborne, Gisborne District
Jo Gregory: "My beautiful son, Kory Jay Thomas was born on the 12th of May 1994 and died by suicide on the 20th of March 2018, at the age 23. From the time Kory arrived on this earth, he was the life of the party and had so many friends. Kory had the most beautiful, loving and caring personality and always had a confident attitude about him. Sadly, Kory became unwell. He had become a little distant and anti-social. This sort of behaviour was really unusual for Kory. Kory fell into a really deep dark hole, he would stay in his room and only come out when his flat mates went to work or bed. Kory’s behaviour continued to deteriorate in a way that was really out of character for him. The last time I saw my son alive was on the 17th of March 2018, just before he headed back to Wellington to finish his degree. I gave him a hug and told him I loved him. Three days later, on the 20th of March 2018, Kory took his life. HEAR4U has supported not only me and my whanau but the wider Tairawhiti district and more. Please sponsor us to help HEAR4U continue to do the amazing work they do" - Jo Gregory.
Jo Hydes: - "Why is she jumping out of a perfectly sound aero plane you may ask yourself particularly when I have a fear of heights...?
The reason is that I have endeavored to face my fears by bringing them in to reality so I can process the information on my terms. I have also been a bit of a handful for my parents whilst growing up and learning about things surrounding me within the world.
Based in Tairawhiti, our charitable trust is dedicated to breaking the stigma around Men'sMentalHealthAwareness & SuicidePrevention by providing HEALING pathways, sharing lived experiences and community CONNECTION.
All funds will be invested into the #Hear4U advocacy service, wellbeing events, and operational costs - ensuring that Tane/Blokes have a safe, non-judgmental, and professional place and platforms to seek mental health support and mentoring.
