Trimble team tackles Rotorua Marathon to raise mental health awareness within the forestry industry and raise funds for the #Hear4U charity.
Gisborne
"On the 4th of May 2024, the entire Rotorua Trimble team, alongside other colleagues from various parts of New Zealand will participate in the Rotorua Marathon. Their aim is to raise mental health awareness within the forestry industry and raise funds for the #Hear4U charity based in Tairawhiti/Gisborne.
In 2022, a colleague and a Trimble customer (Forest Management Group in Christchurch) and her husband travelled to Rotorua for the Marathon. They had so much fun that they decided to return in 2023, with additional friends in tow. A couple of us from Trimble-Rotorua office joined them. It was hard for some of us but fun nonetheless and gave a real sense of achievement. A decision was made to do it again in 2024 for the 60th anniversary of the Rotorua Marathon.
WHY #HEAR4U?
We need strong and successful communities. The backbone of a strong community is the family unit. Society often expects men to act as the head of the family, to be strong and to 'get on with it'
There is the often heard saying "It's Okay not to be okay". Everyone needs a helping hand when the storms of life hit. Hear4u steps nicely into the gap that brings these concepts together very well, supporting the men who need help when they need help. Saving the lives of the men who can get back up and build and re-build their lives and families, because when the head is strong, the family can thrive and when the family thrives, the community thrives and when the community thrives, the country thrives"- Harriet Dube.
Based in Tairawhiti, our charitable trust is dedicated to breaking the stigma around Men'sMentalHealthAwareness & SuicidePrevention by providing HEALING pathways, sharing lived experiences and community CONNECTION.
All funds will be invested into the #Hear4U advocacy service, wellbeing events, and operational costs - ensuring that forestry whanau have a safe, non-judgmental, and professional place and platforms to seek mental health support and mentoring.
